Who We Are

Security Blues is a personal blog operated by Collin, based in the DMV area. The site covers homelab builds, security operations, and infrastructure documentation. You can reach us at [email protected].

What Data We Collect

Server logs. Like any web server, secblues.com logs standard access data including IP addresses, browser type, referring URLs, pages visited, and timestamps. These logs are retained on DigitalOcean infrastructure for operational and security purposes.

Comments. If you leave a comment, we collect your name, email address, and the content of your comment. Email addresses are used only to notify you of replies and are not displayed publicly. Comments are stored in our WordPress database.

Contact form submissions. If you use the contact form, we collect your name, email address, and message content. This information is used only to respond to your inquiry.

Cookies. WordPress sets cookies for comment author information if you leave a comment (so your name and email are remembered on your next visit). No tracking or advertising cookies are used on this site.

What We Do Not Collect

We do not run advertising, analytics platforms (such as Google Analytics), or tracking scripts. We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. We do not collect payment information.

How We Use Your Data

Server logs are used to monitor site performance, investigate security incidents, and troubleshoot errors. Comment and contact form data is used solely to operate those features and respond to you. We do not use your data for profiling or targeted advertising.

Data Retention

Server logs are retained for a limited period consistent with operational needs. Comments remain on the site unless you request removal. Contact form submissions are kept only as long as necessary to respond.

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal data we hold about you by contacting us at [email protected]. If you left a comment and want it removed, email us with the post URL and your name.

Third-Party Services

This site is hosted on DigitalOcean. Their infrastructure processes all traffic to this site. See DigitalOcean’s Privacy Policy for details. The site uses WordPress software. Outbound email is handled via SMTP2GO — see SMTP2GO’s Privacy Policy.

This site is served over HTTPS. We take reasonable measures to protect the data we hold, but no internet transmission or storage system is 100% secure.
